Faith

in this never ending struggle between what is right and wrong
we sometimes stumble over the smallest of objects
not the least of which is faith
faith, now there's a mighty powerful word
we display our faith like some trophy we have won in a silly contest participated in on a dare
we have faith in god
faith in mankind
faith in our elected officials
faith in the bank keeping our money safe
we toss this ever versatile word about like it's a beach ball
never thinking that one day it may pop
or worse
be carried away by an unsuspecting wave to be lost at sea forever
faith, a mighty powerful word for such weak undeserving lifeforms
especially when we tend to lose it so frequently
i've lost my faith in god
in mankind
in myself
it seems to me if this thing faith were so important we could hold on to it a little better than what we do
don't you?

so as the movie that was your life fades to black
and the preacher man delivers the end credits like a ring announcer
filling time after a first round knock out
remember
you were the director who lost faith in the film
not the audience
