Shadow of Your Smile


it is in the shadow of your smile that true sorrow resides
concealing the sins of another night spent in the dim glow of flickering street lamps 

but you're going home now

it was in the shadow of your kiss that i found the meaning of lonely 
sheltering the beauty of your innocence that so many longed to touch

but you're going home now

it was in the shadow of a stone that i wept for your soul
covering my heartache in the uncertainty of a loss i could never understand 

but you're home now

it was in the shadow of time i waited for you
covered by the cool earth of an unplanned departure

but you're home now
and so am i
